BWFH welcomes new Professional Development Program Manager for Wound Ostomy Continence Care

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Nursing Professional Development team recently welcomed Cody Hedglin, MSN, RN, CWON, as Program Manager for Wound Ostomy Continence Care.

Hedglin earned his BSN from Cedar Crest College in 2010 and began his career as a registered nurse in Texas. He held several positions as a registered nurse before discovering his love of wound care and earning a post-graduate certificate in Wound & Ostomy Nursing from the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University in 2015. He later earned his MSN from Framingham State University. Hedglin comes to BWFH from the VA Boston HealthCare System where he served as their Wound and Ostomy Nurse.

“I really like the hands-on aspect of wound care and the fact that you get to interact with everyone,” he says of his career choice. “I get to talk to aides, nurses and physicians, and I get to know my patients and their families.”

Here at BWFH, Hedglin will provide Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing consults throughout the hospital, supporting nurses in reviewing patient wounds and providing recommendations on the plan of care. He will also focus on nursing education. “The two big things I am focusing on now are reducing hospital-acquired pressure injuries and clinical nurse education in regards to wound care and ostomy care,” he says.

Outside of work, Hedglin describes himself as a huge cinephile. “I love to watch movies and television,” he says. “Right now I am working my way through the new season of Yellowstone.”

If your patient requires a Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing consult, Hedglin is available Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3 pm, by Vocera or pager (#61560). Please follow WOCN Consultation Guidelines when requesting a consult:

  • Place an order requesting an IP Consult to WOCN
  • Provide reason for consult and any additional information
