BWFH welcomes new gastroenterologist

Pichamol Jirapinyo, MD, MPH

Brigham Health’s Division of Gastroenterology is pleased to welcome Pichamol Jirapinyo, MD, MPH.

Dr. Jirapinyo earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Harvard College, where she also studied medicine. Additionally, she holds a master’s degree in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She completed an internship and a residency in internal medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital before completing fellowships in Gastroenterology, Bariatric Endoscopy and Advanced Endoscopy at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Her clinical and research interests are in the field of bariatric and metabolic endoscopy. “I routinely perform endoscopic procedures to help patients lose weight and improve their weight-related comorbidities, such as fatty liver and diabetes, especially for those who do not qualify for bariatric surgery” she says. “I also perform endoscopic procedures to treat acid reflux for patients who remain symptomatic despite being on anti-acid medications.”

At Brigham and Women’s Faulkner, as associate physician, Dr. Jirapinyo will see patients with obesity, metabolic diseases and acid reflux in the gastroenterology and bariatric clinics as part of the Center for Weight Management and Metabolic Surgery (CWMMS). She says, “I look forward to getting to know the staff, employees and patients at BWFH. During training, I always enjoyed coming to BWFH because it felt like a family here.”

When she is not at work, Dr. Jirapinyo enjoys spinning, running outdoors, going to the movies, skiing and hiking.
