BWFH welcomes new Director of Occupational Health Services

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital recently welcomed Jessica Kearns, MSN, MHA, RN, to the role of Director of Occupational Health Services. In this role, Kearns will have direct oversight of the Occupational Health Services clinic.

Kearns began her nursing career at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital, a 417-bed hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota. She initially worked on an inpatient unit and then in the float pool before taking on a Nurse Manager role in 2011. She comes to BWFH from her most recent position with Rapid City Medical Center, a physician-owned private practice where she served as the Director for Clinical Staff for the practice’s eight clinics. “I wore a lot of hats in that role,” she says. “I managed the nursing staff, but I also did all of the occupational health work, served as the OSHA director and did a lot of infection control and environmental safety work.”

When it came time to think about her next career move, Kearns was drawn to the east coast and all of the opportunities within the healthcare industry here. “I know I will be able to carry my past experience with me in this role, but I am also excited to grow my skills in such a large market,” she says.

When she is not at work, Kearns enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as reading, practicing yoga and playing the guitar. Of her new home here in Boston, she says, “I am excited to explore the city’s outdoor spaces and experience my first New England fall!”
