BWFH welcomes new Director of Laboratory Services

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is pleased to welcome Kristopher Durette to the role of Director of Laboratory Services where he will have oversight of the wide range of services the laboratory provides to both inpatients and outpatients, including anatomical pathology, the blood bank, chemistry, cytology, hematology, histology, immunology, microbiology and phlebotomy.

Durette studied medical laboratory science at UMass Dartmouth and began his career as a Medical Technologist in the laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital. Over the course of his career, he has worked at Morton Hospital and in the bio tech industry, serving most recently as Technical Supervisor at Foundation Medicine.

Durette says his decision to take on his new role was driven by his desire to return to the hospital setting. “I like being close to the care and interacting with the nurses and providers. I appreciate their knowledge, input and feedback. It helps us improve patient care,” he says.

Outside of work, Durette is dad to two boys, ages 16 and 20. He describes himself saying, “I am active in every season.” He enjoys skiing in winter. In the spring, he takes part in charity cycling events. In the summer he can be found fishing on his boat. “Fall is for cleaning up and getting ready for winter,” he says.
