BWFH welcomes new Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services

Lauren Forni, PharmD

Lauren Forni, PharmD, has been named Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. In this role, she will work alongside Director of Pharmacy Services Brian Zikaras, PharmD, to oversee all aspects of Pharmacy operations.

Forni studied at Northeastern University’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences. Since graduating, she has worked for CVS Pharmacy, most recently in the role of District Leader for Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.

She was initially drawn to retail pharmacy for the opportunity to develop her management and leadership skills. But after several years living in Connecticut, she was ready to move to back to her home state of Massachusetts and take on a new challenge. When the role here at BWFH presented itself, Forni didn’t hesitate. She says it was the combination of the management skills and clinical skills needed for the job that excited her. “The timing was perfect and the position was perfect. I feel like I got really lucky,” she says.

In her first few weeks on the job, Forni is working closely with Zikaras to define their workflow. Since both are new to their positions, they are taking the opportunity to examine each of their strengths and divide up responsibilities accordingly. In the meantime, Forni is getting to know the hospital and her new co-workers. She says, “Everyone has been so welcoming and patient and willing to teach, from the front desk all the way into the Pharmacy Department. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience coming into a new job.”

When she is not at work, Forni says she enjoys golf and running. She also recently adopted a puppy, with whom she takes long walks and goes hiking. “She’s very active so she keeps me going,” she says.
