BWFH sponsors member appreciation health fair at Parkway YMCA

In partnership with TCB, Cannon Eyecare and Cryotherapy West Roxbury, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital recently sponsored a member appreciation health fair at the Parkway YMCA. The event gave Parkway YMCA members a chance to explore ways to become healthier in 2018.

Community Health and Wellness Assistant Katie Plante offered blood pressure and cholesterol checks. “With the start of the new year, many of the Parkway YMCA members are really focused on improving their health,” says Plante. “Simple checks of blood pressure and cholesterol are a great start when you’re looking to evaluate where your health is today and where you want it to be in the coming year.”

Also from BWFH, Physical Therapy offered balance testing and Outpatient Dietitian Laura Kusy, MS, RDN, LDN, provided a healthy recipe and nutrition information.

“In the Community Health and Wellness Department, we have long been committed to assessing the health needs of our community and looking for ways to provide the services our community members need to help improve their health,” says Plante. “The health fair at the Parkway YMCA was a great way to kick off another year of community outreach.”

TCB was on hand to offer members insights into the latest tax changes and other fiscal health topics. Cannon Eyecare had staff available to tighten eyeglasses. And Cryotherapy West Roxbury did a presentation on the services they provide.
