BWFH nurses present at ONL Spring Meeting

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Department of Nursing was well represented at the Organization of Nurse Leaders (ONL) for the Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Connecticut Spring Meeting in Natick. During the conference, 2 South Nurse Director Paula Knotts, MSN, RN, NE-BC, RN-BC, and 2 South Clinical Leader Kerry Parsons, BSN, RN, presented their poster “Access to Personal Electronic Devices on an Inpatient Psychiatry Unit: A Recovery Oriented Approach” during the exhibit session.

Knotts says displaying their poster at ONL was a great experience. “The conference is well attended with nurse leaders from all over New England who are genuinely interested in the work of clinical nurses who are improving care and outcomes,” she says. “Our poster was very well received because of the innovative nature of the work in a setting that many are unfamiliar with. I am very proud to be able to represent the great work of the 2 South inpatient psychiatry nurses, our mental health workers and psychologist Christopher AhnAllen, PhD.”

In addition to the poster presentations, attendees learned about presentation skills during a talk by Eda Roth, an actress and consultant who specializes in bringing theatre-based skills to professional communications. They were also treated to a talk titled “Mastering the New Media Landscape” by Rusty Shelton, founder and CEO of Zilker Media, co-author of Mastering the New Media Landscape: Embrace the Micromedia Mindset and publisher of ForbesBooks.
