BWFH celebrates Certified Nurses Day

Every year, on March 19, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital celebrates Certified Nurses Day. It’s a day to honor our 154 board-certified nurses. These nurses are recognized for their professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellence in patient care. This year, we’re especially proud to recognize our newest certified nurses who committed to advancing their practice. In 2022, 6 of our colleagues earned a new certification. Here are some of their stories.

“After working as a medical-surgical nurse for the past few years, I thought it would be important to obtain certification not just for myself, but also for my patients. There is great satisfaction in advancing your practice and knowledge while providing the highest level of care to your patients.”

-Ron Cassesso, BSN, RN, MEDSURG-BC

“Becoming certified was important to me not only for my own edification but also to be able to validate my experience and skills as an emergency room nurse. Certification was additionally another step in the continuum of my nursing career with the idea that I would then obtain my certification in critical care.”

-Nicole Fay, BSN, RN, CEN

“Studying and passing the CPAN exam reinforced the knowledge I have gained over the past 24 years being a PACU nurse. Being CPAN certified validates my specialized knowledge and enhances my professional credibility.”

-June Nichols, BSN, RN, CPAN
