Brigham family welcomes new Medical Directors for Endoscopy and Infusion Services

The Brigham family has named two new Medical Directors.

Linda S. Lee, MD, named Endoscopy Services Medical Director

Dr. Lee attended medical school at Yale University and completed her residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She completed her advanced endoscopy fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Lee’s clinical expertise is focused on advanced endoscopic procedures including ERCP and EUS as well as the pancreas and artificial intelligence, on which she has published over 100 original articles, reviews, chapters and presented at renowned national and international gastroenterology courses. She co-chaired an NIDDK workshop on Endoscopic Ultrasound in Pancreatic Diseases and has served on and led numerous committees in ASGE (American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) and ACG (American College of Gastroenterology). She has also published a highly regarded textbook on a case-based approach to ERCP and EUS for which she is the solo editor.

Dr. Lee currently serves as Medical Director of Endoscopy for the main campus and 850 Boylston. In her new role as Brigham family Endoscopy Services Medical Director, she will have oversight of endoscopy services at the main campus, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital and 850 Boylston. She will work closely with both the Peri-Procedural Services team and local leadership to ensure safe, high quality, efficient and effective care across all three sites. She succeeds Ben Smith, MD, who has been serving as the local Medical Director at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.

Jessica R. Allegretti, MD, MPH, named Infusion Services Medical Director

Dr. Allegretti attended medical school at the University of Miami and completed her residency in internal medicine at Mass General Hospital and her fellowship in gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She later went on to receive her MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. She is a physician-scientist dedicated to discovering and developing innovative microbiome therapeutics and novel treatments for inflammatory bowel disease. Her research focus is on the mechanism recurrent C.difficile infection and the intersection of C.difficile infection and inflammatory bowel disease. She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and received funding from the NIH, the American College of Gastroenterology and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. In 2020, she received the Sherman Emerging Leader Prize for Excellence in Crohn’s and Colitis

Dr. Allegretti currently serves as the Medical Director of the Crohn’s and Colitis Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In her new role as Brigham family Infusion Services Medical Director, she will have oversight of infusion services at the main campus, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital and 850 Boylston. She too will work closely with both the Peri-Procedural Services team and local leadership to ensure safe, high quality, efficient and effective care across all three sites. She succeeds Muthoka Mutinga, MD, who has been serving as the local Medical Director at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.
