Cardiac Device Clinic and Remote Monitoring Center now open at BWFH

Strategic Goal: Clinical Strength

The Cardiac Device Clinic and Remote Monitoring Center is now open at Brigham and Women’s Medical Specialties at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital (Suite 4G). The new clinic, under the direction of Dr. Michael Sweeney, provides long-term follow-up and management of pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy devices for heart failure, remote surveillance and injectable subcutaneous cardiac monitors for diagnostic rhythm monitoring, atrial fibrillation management and cryptogenic stroke.

Dr. Sweeney, who is board certified in cardiovascular disease and cardiac electrophysiology, says, “This highly specialized clinic reflects the extraordinary impact of rapid evolving technology in cardiovascular medicine and related disciplines.”

Patients who visit the Cardiac Device Clinic and Remote Monitoring Center at BWFH may have appointments with Dr. Sweeney or Lindsay Harris, NP.

“The complexity of diagnoses in the subspecialty of electrophysiology is both challenging and rewarding,” Harris says. “I learn something new every day but the true reward of working with this patient population is the positive impact I am able to have on their quality of life. Through advances in medical technology, we now have a variety of implantable cardiac devices that can be utilized to treat specific patient needs. As a clinician, I am able to apply this technology to individualize treatment plans and provide the best possible care to each patient.”

Dr. Sweeney is a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester and a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology, pacing and defibrillation at Massachusetts General Hospital. When he is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his three boys and two dogs.

Harris earned her BSN at Rivier University and her MSN at Regis College. She is a certified ANCC Adult-Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.
