Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s inpatient psychiatric unit, 2 South, was recently inspected by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH), and its license has been renewed for the next two years.

“This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the 2 South leadership team and the excellent care that every member of our team delivers to our patients,” says Chief of Psychiatry Carlos Fernandez-Robles, MD, MBA. “We are so proud our survey went so well. It empowers us to continue pursuing excellent care, elevate patient experience and continue our zealous focus on patient safety.”

During the site visit, DMH surveyors conducted a walk-through to examine the environment of care and reviewed medical records, staffing, policies and procedures, as well as Human Resources and medical staff credentialing files. The surveyors did make a few recommendations on how to improve the quality of care, but none were regulatory in nature.

“This positive outcome would not have been possible without the support of the entire BWH/BWFH Department of Psychiatry and the administrative and professional staff of the Brigham family who have unconditionally supported our work,” says Dr. Fernandez-Robles.
