Healthy Living Speaker Series Presented by Deutsches Altenheim: Medical Marijuana: Health Risks and Benefits

Medical marijuana is in the news daily with many claims about what it can do for people with all types of illnesses and symptoms. Objective information about the use of marijuana for medical illness is much more difficult to find and there are many conflicting opinions. Join us for a perspective on the use of marijuana as a medication and learn what is known, rumored, and hoped about this novel therapy. We will review methods of use, benefits, harms and future developments.

John Halporn, MD, is a palliative care physician at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. He has assisted cancer patients in using medical marijuana to control disease symptoms and side effects from treatment. The content of this presentation and the opinions expressed therein are Dr. Halporn’s and do not necessarily reflect the views and policies of his employers, professional organizations or Deutsches Altenheim.

A light dinner will be served at 5:30 pm. The lecture begins at 6 pm.
