Symposium: Reducing the Impact of Climate Change on Health – The Role of Health Care Professionals
Presented by the MGH Institute School of Nursing’s Center for Climate Change, Climate Justice, and Health, this full-day symposium will provide health care professionals with an opportunity to engage in robust discussion about ideas for corrective action to improve the lives of people in the face of climate change. Participants will be able to: 1) discuss the role of health professionals in advocating for climate/environmental justice for all populations, 2) identify health risks of climate change 3) apply health care models as a framework to understand the implications of climate change and implement action plans, and 4) explore strategies to integrate health issues of climate change into health professions curricula. Hear from Keynote Speaker Gina McCarthy, current Director of the Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and former EPA Administrator during the Obama Administration, along with other national experts and faculty from the IHP Center for Climate Change, Climate Justice, and Health. 6.25 Nursing Contact Hours Available.
