BWFH plastic surgeons named among Boston magazine's Top Doctors

This year, Boston magazine's “Top Doctors” list highlighted more than 1,600 doctors in 60 different specialties who have made a significant impact in Massachusetts. Among them were all five plastic surgeons who see patients in Suite 2B at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.

For the individual surgeons who see patients at BWFH both in the clinic setting and in the operating room, it’s a great personal honor to be included on Boston magazine’s list. But more importantly, it speaks to the excellence of the team as a whole and their focus on the best possible patient care.

Honoree and Section Chief of Plastic Surgery Dr. Charles Hergrueter couldn’t be more proud to be included on the list along with his colleagues. He attributes the entire group’s inclusion on the list to the high standards that BWFH and its administrative and clinical staff embrace and practice every day. “Every patient encounter, whether in the clinic or operating room, must begin and end with quality,” he says. “It is an honor to be among such people every day. We are in this position because we have worked toward this goal as a team.”

Director of the Lower Extremity Transplant Program Dr. Matthew Carty is grateful to be part of that team. “It’s an honor and a privilege to be recognized in this year’s Top Doctors list and to share this distinction with all of my partners who are based at BWFH,” he says. “We look forward to continuing to provide our patients with world class care.”

Dr. Yoon Chun, Director of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Breast Surgery, echoes Dr. Hergrueter and Dr. Carty’s thought on the team. “Receiving the honor together with my partners felt like I was a player on a championship team and reinforced how I feel about BWFH plastic surgery and how we provide the best quality care available to our community.”

For Dr. Stephanie Caterson, Director of the Perforator Flap Breast Reconstruction Program, having the entire team recognized speaks to the level of integration BWFH has with Brigham and Women’s Hospital. “BWH and its supportive relationship with BWFH allows us to work at our full potential, and do our best for our patients,” she says.

Dr. Christian Sampson, Director of the Plastic Surgery Hand Service and Gillian Reny Trauma Fellowship, says the caliber of individuals he works with at BWH and BWFH is second to none and that he is honored to be recognized by them. He agrees with his colleagues, saying, “The work we do for our patients is a team effort and I simply could not be on a better team.”
