Led by Meg Kilmurray, Community Health & Wellness Assistant, and Melanie Hadden, Radiology Project Coordinator, in partnership with the Young Professionals Committee at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the committee hopes to organize and promote professional development, career advancement and networking opportunities geared towards the early career healthcare workforce.
"We are targeting people who are young in their career, who are trying to get established and really grow," says Kilmurray.
Regardless of age, the committee is a place for those new to their healthcare career to network with peers, volunteer in the community and establish their path forward. At their first meeting, the group discussed plans for professional development activities such as panels and seminars. They also proposed volunteer opportunities that would both benefit the community and serve as a means for networking.
"There’s nothing that’s really just a strictly networking/advice/early careerist committee. That’s why we thought it was such a good idea,"says Hadden.
The group hopes to participate as volunteers during the upcoming ClimbAmerica! stadium climb at Fenway Park on June 7th and help out with the blood drive when the DFCI/BWH Blood Mobile visits on June 6th.
This BWH committee is open to all BWFH employees. If you’d like get involved or volunteer at an event, contact Meg Kilmurray at firstname.lastname@example.org - 617-983-7907 or Melanie Hadden at email@example.com - 617-983-7035.
