Shoji assumes new role as BWFH Operating Room Surgical Director
Dr. Brent Shoji
Dr. Shoji brings great operating room insights and surgical program leadership experience to this position. He attended medical school at the UCLA School of Medicine and did his residency in general surgery at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Shoji has served as a general surgeon in the BWH Department of Surgery since 1987, has operated at BWFH since 1998, and is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Shoji also previously served as Chief of General Surgery at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. In 2013, Dr. Shoji became a full time member of the Brigham Surgical Group.
In this newly created position, Dr. Shoji will play a critical role in overseeing and improving day to day OR management and associated perioperative functions, including managing equal access for all physicians to BWFH's operating room spaces. When asked about his thoughts on working at BWFH, Shoji says, “I think the current working relationship between BWH and BWFH is a great thing. Things seem cozy here at BWFH, and people seem to connect to one another, and are good at supporting one another's interests.”
When not working, Dr. Shoji enjoys sports, including basketball and tennis, and also likes older sports cars.
