Kerstin Palm, Outpatient Rehabilitation Services Manager and co-chair of the BWH/BWFH LGBT Employee Resource Group along with Tanya Zucconi, MBA, described the event as a fun family day. It was also a great opportunity for team building among the three institutions. Most importantly, it was a chance for the hospitals to demonstrate their commitment to the LGBT community. "In large part it’s a way for the hospital to demonstrate to current patients and potential patients that we value you, we want to be your provider, we are going to treat you with dignity and respect," says Palm.
Meeting Senator Warren, who marched with Democratic Senate candidate Edward J. Markey, was an added bonus for the marchers. "A lot of people thanked her for her work. She was very gracious," says Palm.
