Recht joins BWFH's Addiction Recovery Program staff
Dr. James Recht
In his new role, Recht provides direct clinical services to patients in the Intensive Outpatient Program and in the ongoing group therapy programs. He also assists with program development, and is in the process of developing a training curriculum in addiction treatment for first year psychiatry residents in the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Training Program.
Recht feels fortunate to be given the opportunity to work with such experienced and knowledgeable colleagues at BWFH. "I have been struck from the get-go," he states, "by the openness, professionalism, dedication, and sincerity of the people here."
When asked what he looks forward to in his new position, Recht says helping develop deeper connections and integration between addiction treatment and psychiatry, and further, between addiction treatment and primary care medicine. "One result of this," he says, "will be an unprecedented decrease in the shame and stigma that prevents so many individuals from obtaining life-saving treatment. It's a very exciting time."
When not working, Recht enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage children, and playing catch with his dog. He notes that "People think it is crazy, but our dog actually throws the ball back. How many pets can do that?"
