Members of Brigham and Women's Foot and Ankle Center at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital recently held their annual shoe drive at the Pine Street Inn. This year they worked in conjunction with the National Shoe Retailers Association and distributed over 400 pairs of shoes and warm winter boots to the homeless. In addition, screening examinations and local foot treatments were provided. Also, 100 pairs of wool socks were given out, thanks in part to the contributions and generosity of Brigham and Women's Foot and Ankle patients.
Many of the homeless were especially grateful for the warm shoes and socks at this time of year. The experience was equally rewarding for the members of the team, who all took time out of their clinical practices to volunteer.
Samantha Noonan, PA-C, who helped to coordinate the event, commented "The team and I look forward to this event every holiday season. This year was especially gratifying as we were able to reach out to even more of those in need."
Those present at the event included Drs. Chris Chiodo, Eric Bluman, Jeremy Smith, Daniel Guss, and Joe Hartigan, as well as Physician Assistants Samantha Noonan, Shari Vigneau, and Adrienne Bonvini.
