I CARE Award recipient likes going the extra mile
After working in BWFH's Telecommunications Department for five years, Moreno was reassigned to working at the Information Desk because of her bilingual abilities. Moreno's current job duties include directing patients and families to their correct destination within the hospital. A long-time BWFH patient (since 1994) was so pleased with Moreno's helpful attitude and kind demeanor that they placed a call to Moreno's supervisor to let them know how much they appreciate Moreno, and how much of an asset she is to the hospital each and every day.
The patient commended Moreno for helping to keep an eye out for the patient's ride home from the hospital, even if she was busy helping others at the Information Desk. “I like to go the extra mile to make sure that patients and families understand how to arrive at their destinations. If it means helping multiple patients at a time, I am honored to do so,” states Moreno. The patient also stated that Moreno knows doctor's locations within the hospital off the top of her head and doesn't even need to look at the directory when relaying location information.
When asked how it felt to receive the I CARE Award, Moreno says, “It was really exciting to receive the I CARE Award,” adding, “I love my job, to tell you the truth, so receiving the I CARE Award makes me feel even more special to be working here at BWFH.”
