Dr. Mohammed Issa joins BWFH to bridge the gap between anesthesia, pain and psychiatry
Dr. Mohammed A. Issa
Often times, patients with chronic pain face challenges like addiction, depression and anxiety. Likewise, patients with addictions often cope with chronic pain. In his new role, Dr. Issa hopes to liaise between his two departments to make sure these patients do not fall through the cracks. He says, "This field of patients with addiction and pain is very new."
"It’s a pretty tough population," he says, but Dr. Issa is up for the challenge. He claims, "this is exactly my dream job."
Dr. Issa hopes to work with his collegues to better understand these patients and develop some set standards in order to treat them effectively. Both departments, Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine and Psychiatry, are thrilled to have a physician on staff who can coordinate the care of these special cases.
Dr. Issa says of the envionment at BWFH, "I fell in love with it right away." He’s also looking forward to settling in and getting to know the city he now calls home. In fact, he hopes to find time to begin playing soccer again now that’s he starting to feel settled in his new role.
