After meeting her American husband in Ireland, Dr. Valizadeh moved to the United States where she completed a transitional year residency at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain and a residency in internal medicine at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton. Of her decision to come to Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Community Physicians, Dr. Valizadeh says, "It was time for a new challenge." As soon as she arrived, she felt welcome and well taken care of by her colleagues. "I see how they take care of me and I am sure that they will do the same for the patients," she says. She’s looking forward to working with the staff, physicians and social worker at the practice as they serve their patients.
Dr. Valizadeh has devoted her career to serving low-income communities with populations that face many challenges. She says of her patients, "I always tell them, 'I know you have problems―financial, housing and everything―but we cannot resolve it if you are sick.'" Her compassion for her patients and their struggles, as well as her belief in integrated medicine, makes Dr. Valizadeh a true champion for patients in the community.
