BWFH employees give blood aboard the DFCI/BWH Blood Mobile

At the blood drive, 33 BWFH staff members volunteered as donors, 25 of which were able to donate. Supervisor of Donor Recruitment at the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center Malissa Lichtenwalter, MBA, considers this a great success. In fact, she says, "Thirteen of the 25 donors have type O blood, which we are always on the look-out for for our NICU babies."
Blood has a limited shelf life, so it’s important to have volunteer donors to ensure that there will be a sufficient supply of blood for the patients who need it, whenever they need it, at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. If you missed your chance to donate blood this time, don’t worry. Plans are being made to have the Blood Mobile back at BWFH in the near future.
